END OF SEASON ANALYSIS

If you listen to different opinions of wether it was a successful season some will say yes it was and others will say no it wasn’t. In some ways it was because to split the two Baillieston teams on our return to the first division (yes we have been there before) was a plus point. To reach our first final was another plus point. On the other hand were we there when the winner medals were being handed out. The answer to that was no. To be fair look at the differences from last season.

(1) We lost our top scorer for large periods this season due to work commitments.
(2) Losing Andy to afternoon football took away our physical presence from midfield.

Those two reasons could have made the difference of winning something this year. Toddy scored 22 goals this season and the next highest on the list is 8. Toddy has said that he is leaving at the end of the season so who will get the goals. Andy played 4 games at the start of the season scored 4 goals and picked up 2 man of the match nominations and one second nomination. That’s why we need a physical presence in the middle of the park. That is not a slight on the guys who have played there and performed admirably it is just a fact.

The most important thing that was missing this season was lack of team spirit. The amount of negative shouts and arguing among players was poor. When you see players of the opposition arguing among themselves during a game it gives you a lift. That’s how the opposition must have felt when playing us at times this season and to be honest lads its embarrassing. To win things you need team spirit. Look at the Baillieston teams yes they argue but it never gets personal.

We finished second this year and reached a cup final lets go out next season and go one better and either win the league or a cup or preferably both.

To finish with here is some numbers for the season past

  1. The number of teams we failed to beat this year. (Garnethill)
  2. The number of games we failed to score in.
  3. The number of hat-tricks scored. (Toddy, David and Paul T)
  4. The number of sending offs. (Paul T, Frank, Stephen T and Newman
  5. The number of teams who failed to take points from us this season.
  6. The number of regular squad players who failed to score this season
  7. The number of clean sheets kept
  8. The number of most consecutive wins
  9. The number of cup games played this season.
  10. The number of the jersey our top scorer wears.
  11. The number of teams in the league.
  12. The number of the most consecutive games unbeaten.
  13. The number of games played before our first defeat.
  14. The number of league wins.
  15. The number of points dropped due to defeats
  16. The number of players who have scored this season.

AND FINALLY NOT ONE PLAYER STATRED EVERY GAME THIS SEASON AND ONLY ONE WAS INVOLVED IN EVERY GAME AND ONLY TWO INVOLVED IN EVERY SQUAD.
